The first 48

The team has arrived - each one of us with a different story about finally getting to Budapest! Some were delayed, some dropped off children in another country, some met during their travels & arrived together, and some, like myself, arrived after 3 flights, 2 layovers and no delays! Finally we met in person after so many months of virtual teaming!

The team started Saturday morning with an excellent orientation session! Zoe, our DOT leader, led the session overall, whilst Peter Rehus, the IBM Hungary Country Manager, gave a thorough overview of the Hungarian market and positioning of the overall needs.

Each team introduced themselves and gave a short summary of their projects. The team ambassadors were introduced and have become an integral part of the teams. We feel very honored and privileged to be a part of this opportunity! Then we exchanged some of the gifts that the team brought for each other - what an array of creative ideas! Having these small gifts will bring back the memories for years to come!

The First 48 continued with a tour of Hero Square and the St. Stephen Basillica which had an excellent 360 degree view of Budapest. This was followed by dinner at a local restaurant with authentic Hungarian meals, Gypsy band and entertainment. We ate, listened to the music, were involved in the entertainment - some were surprised by the fun!

We all woke up Sunday to the most beautiful day ever! Sunny blue skies, crisp clear not a cloud to be seen. There were several groups doing different activities including going to one of the thermal baths, going to the Fisherman's Bastian, the Parliment building and the Margit Island. What a way to get over jet lag and prepare for the week ahead!
